Leos Protecting Life, a club formed this year, invited pro-life activist Lydia Taylor Davis to discuss her views on abortion Thursday in LaFetra Auditorium to a small audience of 23 people.

Smoke, ash and flames have been facts of life in Southern California since the Line, Bridge and Airport wildfires erupted across the region over the last two weeks consuming almost 55,000 acres to date and forcing approximately 10,000 people to evacuate.
Human beings are not the only ones displaced as countless animals have also lost their homes – at least temporarily.

Fiesta Patrias celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month - Campus Times

The Fairplex in Pomona recently hosted an event to honor Mexican Independence Day and Hispanic Heritage Month. The Fiesta Patrias music festival was Sunday.
A collaboration of Que Buena 105.5FM, 94.3FM and the Fairplex, the event was free, though parking was pricey.
About 500 people attended the festival, despite the 100-degree heat and some smoke from the nearby Bridge Fire.

The city of Ontario invited artists to showcase their hand-crafted work and its residents to support their work Saturday by Holt x Palm vintage home decor store and gallery in downtown Ontario.

Chaffey College presented its Fifth Annual Hip-Hop Studies Summit in celebration of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary, where Black artists, students and the dance team performed various poems, songs and dances for guests March 1.

The Honors Program hosted a date rape drugs information session on Nov. 17 in the Campus Center, where survivors discussed their experiences and the effect it has had on their lives.

The California Botanic Garden in Claremont hosted the “Waterwise Community Festival” Sunday to spread awareness about the issues of climate change and water conservation, and the particular challenges the state faces in light of a historic drought.

The University of La Verne Department of Theater Arts presented a student-directed production of “Dracula,” adapted from the Bram Stoker book, last week in Dailey Theatre.

The National Hot Rod Association Motorsports Museum held its monthly Twilight Cruise event in Pomona last week. The event featured iconic muscle cars.
Twilight Cruise nights are held the first Wednesday of each month beginning April and ending with the annual toy drive in December.
Temperatures reached a high of 105 degrees for this month’s event.
